INSTER Chabak

A small electric car as a sleeping space, power source and workspace.

An interactive field check for people who want to know not only what a vehicle can do, but whether it fits a real weekend outdoors.

The idea

Chabak is not a brochure.

A vehicle becomes interesting when it can carry a real night and a long day.

Chabak is the Korean idea of sleeping outdoors in a small vehicle. Not a copy of a campsite. More a test: what can be made from little space when you do not block out the surroundings?

The INSTER is interesting because its interior does more than manage seats. The rear bench splits 50/50 and moves 16 cm lengthwise. That does not create luxury. But it does create a usable surface.

This workshop is not a buying guide. It is a small decision aid. You can change numbers, put a night’s battery use into the calculation and then check whether the concept fits your way of being outdoors.

Interior

Interior, not seat plan.

What Hyundai officially states about the flexible interior concept.

Hyundai facts about the interior conceptFour-seater

Rear bench50/50 split and movable by up to 16 cm. Moving it forward creates more rear space; moving it back leaves more legroom.

Front seatsDriver and passenger seatbacks fold flat. The German price list shows this equipment from Trend upwards.

Cargo spaceFor versions with a movable rear bench, Hyundai states 238 to 351 l and up to 1,059 l with the seats folded.

These are manufacturer specifications for the interior, not a measured sleeping area. For your Chabak setup, the photograph below and your vehicle’s exact equipment still matter.

Power

The battery works with you.

V2L becomes a small workshop. The calculation stays visible.

The open field question

How much battery does a summer night with climate control cost?

This number is rarely in the data sheet. Here you can calculate it as a scenario and replace it later with a real night.

ca. 8.7 %Modelled consumption for 8 h · 4 kWh

When you have the real value

Range

Kilometres are a scenario.

Distance, speed and a charging stop belong in the same decision.

The distance remains below 80 percent of the net battery in this model.
27.540 Wh model demandDC 10–80: approx. 29 minutes

Transfer to your everyday life

What would you really test on this weekend?

Describe a concrete route or task. Not “road trip”, but for example: 180 km to the lake, one night, laptop and camera, then on again in the morning.

With 153 Wh/km as a real-world field value, the 49-kWh version comes to around 300 km. The number only becomes useful when you connect it to your day: start, distance, temperature, luggage and energy that does not go into propulsion.

Limits

What will not become comfortable.

Two people, luggage and roof load are not side notes.

Two peopleremain tight on the platform. It works, but it is not generous.

Storageis 351 l, or 1,059 l with the seats folded. Sleeping and luggage still compete.

Roof boxbecomes practical for longer stays. The stated roof load is 100 kg.

This is where a field check becomes more useful than a brochure. A small vehicle can offer many things at once. It cannot be spacious, light, efficient and generous for two people at the same time.

Check

What sticks?

Six questions. Immediate feedback. A result to take with you.

01What sleeping area is specified for the Chabak conversion?
02How much power can V2L provide at maximum?
03What net battery belongs to the 49-kWh version?
04How long does DC charging from 10 to 80 percent take approximately?
05What roof load is specified?
06What belongs in an honest Chabak assessment?

Sources and context

What is evidenced here.

Vehicle data and product functions come from the linked manufacturer information. The Chabak sleeping area, working assumptions and assessment of the limits are marked as field notes or models.
